医療における画像診断と放射線治療の重要性は近年、加速度的に増しています。病院の中央部門として医療の質を規定しているといっても過言ではありません。 しかし、日本ではまだまだ放射線科医が不足している状況であり（資料）、このような領域にキャリアをかけようという情熱ある医師を広く募集します。
本学は1872年に設立されており、日本有数の伝統ある医学部です。また放射線医学講座に関しても1928年（昭和3年）に後藤五郎先生が初代教授に昇任されてからすでに90年を超える歴史を有します。これら伝統に相応の社会的役割を担って参りたいと思いますが、これは座して待つことでは達成できません。伝統は継続的な変革の上に成り立ちます。常に新しい概念や環境を受け入れる柔軟性をもち多様性を享受しながら未来へ向かって大きく羽ばたくことができるような組織でありたいと思います。
The Department of Radiology at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine was established in 1928, and is one of the oldest in our country. We provide the most comprehensive and competitive radiological training program. The program includes diagnostic and interventional radiology as well as, radiation oncology. Our educational goal is to train the best radiologists and scientists in this field. There is no question that the radiologists now play a pivotal role in modern medicine but we are trying to expand this further to achieve safer and minimally invasive patient care.
教室の歴史 History
京都府立医科大学の前身は明治5年（1872年）に粟田口青蓮院に市民からの寄付で開設された京都療病院に始まります。明治12年には医学校が併設され、医学教育を始めています。その後、明治36年（1903年）には専門医学令による京都府立医学専門学校となり、大正10年（1921年）には大学令の施行とともに、京都府立医科大学と改称され現在へと至っています。当教室は昭和3年に後藤五郎が放射線科の初代教授に就任し、開講しました。当時は所属医師が2名だけの小さな教室でしたが、現在は30名に及ぶスタッフを擁します。また当教室への入局者は248名に及び、そのうち215 名が同門会に所属しています。
Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine (KPUM) is one of the oldest medical schools in Japan, established in 1872, only five years after the Meiji Restoration. KPUM was initially established by donations provided by the citizens of Kyoto. Department of Radiology was established in 1928, and it is the fifth oldest one in Japan. The department started with only two staff members including Professor Goto. We are now at the 6th generation leadership and now have 30 faculty members and over 50 doctors when trainees are included. We are also proud to have about 250 alumni. Our hospital is neatly nestled within the picturesque surroundings, abutting the Kamo River and overlooking the majestic peaks of Mt. Hiei and Higashiyama foothills. We all welcome you to our historical Department of Radiology of Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine.
